Delicious hamburger made from fresh ground meat. Wish it wasn't cooked so well done though. Fresh cut fries are also very good. The prices are really good for these days. Fresh burgers and fresh cut fries for under $10 with tax is awesome. The owner looks like he needs to hire some help. He is doing it all and he is very short with customers. You wont get a smile or any pleasantries from here. It's kinda like getting soup at that Soup Stand restaurant in the Sienfeld tv show. Will I come back? Of course, I like the food and prices..lol

It was actually towards the end of September last year when we first tried this local gem. We had just got done wandering around Old Orchard Mall and exploratory me who loves to support small business was in the mood for Chicago style grub so The Little Island it was. Depending on traffic and vehicles pulling in/out, trying to park on the island may be a pain and very limited but we managed. Not from the area so don't know if there's designated parking across any of the intersecting roads. Anyways, the food here is really good with a menu with some familiar eats and some items done differently by the owner. I definitely enjoyed the BIG Island Classic burger which was dee-lish as well as the fresh cut fries. To me I don't look at The Little Island as "just another Chicago style grill" but indeed a little gem of a grill. Don't know what it is but this place just hits different than most I've been to. I would imagine the elderly white guy who was working by himself was the owner. We live up in Beach Park and may not necessarily be in Evanston too much but are in the Skokie/Morton Grove/Niles area a few times a year so a visit here again is very likely. I came upon this place from searching on google. I had their meatball sandwich with a merkt's cheese fry and a large drink. And it really hit the spot that today i ordered it again for my meal break at work. I have read all the good things people left about that place and it sure didn't disappoint. You've gained another regular customer. I will order again.

Moved away 7 yrs ago but had to revisit Little Island when back for a short stay. Excellent food. Personal service great. Owner is a little grayer but so am I. I used to eat there every Saturday and everything just as I remember.

Awesome hole in a wall restaurant for great food and a small price. Excellent lunch spot! Parking is a bit tough with only 6-8 spots available BUT worth finding a spot to eat here.
